On September 25, Triide, together with Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) Malaysia, wrapped up a two-day program in Kuala Lumpur under the theme “China-Malaysia Corridor – Your Gateway to Opportunities.” The sessions gave Chinese companies a closer look at opportunities in Malaysia and practical guidance on how to take their first steps in regional expansion.
The first day began with a working session at the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI), where delegates exchanged views on the challenges and opportunities Chinese investors face in Malaysia. Next up was the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) where the representative shared learn about the country’s investment landscape, focus industries, and policy support.
In the afternoon, Triide and SCB were joined by Morison where the speakers shared insights on incorporation procedures, tax planning, compliance, and common pitfalls in outbound direct investment (ODI), offering practical takeaways for companies at the start of their international journeys. Case studies and interactive discussions provided first-time outbound investors a clear sense of what it takes to establish operations abroad.
The second day took delegates to Invest Selangor, where they saw the state’s strong infrastructure, industrial clusters, and connectivity as Malaysia’s “Golden State.” The tour concluded with a visit to Khind, a leading Malaysian multinational with products sold in over 60 markets worldwide. Both visits offered participants an intimate firsthand knowledge into the local business environment and operating practices, helping shape their own expansion plans.
Participants found the program highly valuable, noting that it not only opened new connections but also strengthened their confidence in navigating unfamiliar markets.
